Homemade Wrinkle Creams

Isn't it amazing how many new skin care creams and lotions come onto the market each and every month. Every product seems to have something special, a secret ingredient or brand new process not used before. These releases always seem to be supported by massive advertising campaigns and, all of a sudden, they seem to become the latest fashion. Upon closer inspection it usually transpires that the skin lotion or cream uses common ingredients and processes that have been known for hundreds of years! Even the relatively new skin care treatment called microdermabrasion uses some basic principles which have been known for centuries and, although highly technical, it is basically a less aggressive type of dermabrasion or extremely good exfoliation which is only possible by using a special professional machine. Annoyingly many skin care companies use the term microdermabrasion in the description of their skin care products when they are really little more than strong exfoliating creams which could, more than likely, be replicated in the home. In fact many homemade wrinkle creams are often as effective as professional products.

Homemade wrinkle creams may not look as inviting as those created by the cosmetics companies but these organizations rely heavily upon their advertising and packaging (which often accounts for the ridiculous high prices). Splash a sample of your latest homemade wrinkle cream onto a small mirror and next to it drop a dollop of that expensive cream that you swear by. Now close your eyes and spin the mirror a few times (to fool yourself which is which) and then see if you can tell the difference by just looking at them. Now try a small amount of each on your skin and see if there is any difference there. Alright, there may be a slight difference but you will have to agree that the differences between homemade wrinkle creams and those expensive ones by the cosmetics companies can hardly justify the difference in cost.

Did you know that the main ingredients of nearly all of the skin care creams available today are virtually the same in every product? Yes it's true even those that cost mega bucks are often bulked out by relatively cheap constituents, most of which you will find listed in the ingredients of many of the recipes for homemade wrinkle creams. You will find many wrinkle cream and natural skin care recipes available online. These often have unusual names such as 'Brown Sugar Scrub' and contain many items commonly found in our kitchens, such as oatmeal, eggs, apples, cucumbers and even strawberries. One of my favorites is the apricot skin mask which is for dry skin but for those with oily skin recipes using French clay work very well indeed.

Maintaining a good skin care regime is a good starting point to ensuring that fewer wrinkles develop in the first place and it is extremely easy to incorporate some of your homemade products into your plan. By making your own facial scrubs, skin lotions, masks and toners, you will save yourself a small fortune. If you plan things well you could even save enough cash to finance a series of microdermabrasion treatments at your local cosmetic clinic.
