Microdermabrasion

We have decided to include a new section on Wrinkletreatment4u all about the noninvasive skin care treatment called microdermabrasion (also know as microderm or micro-dermabrasion). At the moment we will be adding articles from free article sites but only those that seem to be of any use. Sadly many of the articles about microdermabrasion appear to be little more than uninformative scripts that look as though they have been autogenerated with software with lots of repetition and even incorrect information.

We have a number of writers in our little team and one has just started to submit articles to these sites we will be listing those submitted recently below. We will also publish related articles such as acne articles. More articles at the bottom of this page.

The popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure known as microdermabrasion has become one of the most popular skin care treatments in Europe and America. Virtually every quality beauty spa, clinic or salon now offers microderm (as microdermabrasion is also known) as one of a selection of skin resurfacing or skin care treatments. The word "sandblasted" has been associated with the treatment since it's very early days of development as it was an easy way to explain the process which involves the movement of abrasive microdermabrasion crystals across the surface of the skin via a special hand tool (often called a wand). By first "blasting" the crystals onto the skin then sucking them back up, in a continuous circular motion the abrasive qualities of the chosen crystal (usually medical grade aluminum oxide called corundum powder) helps to remove the very top layer of the skin to varying depths depending on the type of skin and length of the treatment.

The very top layer of the skin consists of both dead and dying skin cells, as our skin continually regenerates the dead cells fall away to uncover the newer cells below. Of course the newer skin is not only younger but it looks younger too. Microdermabrasion helps to speed up this process and in doing so it can, often, produce fantastic results. As well as producing younger looking, radiant, skin, the treatment helps close open pores and is known to help greatly in the treatment of such things as acne. There are many, well known, advantages to this skin treatment and the incredible results have driven it's increase in popularity.

As soon as the procedure started to become popular several skin care organizations started to produce home microdermabrasion treatments. Obviously some were far better than others but all tended to use some form of abrasive material suspended in a cream. Neutrogena produced their fantastic range known as the "At Home MicroDermabrasion System" which used a battery powered hand tool to which incorporated a selection of sponge attachments. Onto the sponge would be placed a special solution which contained crystals and the tool would vibrate gently as the operator would move it across the surface of the skin. The system remains popular today because, although it used a different process to the salon/spa treatment, it managed to exfoliate the skin incredibly well which led to good results. Many of the other home microdermabrasion machines, such as those by DermaNew, Vita-K and others, use a similar approach to microdermabrasion.

Unfortunately there are also many other products on the market that claim to offer home microdermabrasion but they offer little more than a mildly abrasive cream which would have, until recently, simply been described as an exfoliator or a skin polisher. While these products can be wonderful as part of your daily skin care regime they can hardly be compared to the cosmetic procedure, even if they do use the same type of crystals in their ingredients. Sales departments are always keen to embrace new terminology but, unfortunately, the use of the term "microdermabrasion" in relation to these skin care creams seems to be slightly misplaced.

Today there is a wide selection of home microdermabrasion products available online, from your local pharmacy or other shops ranging from excellent machines to the creams and lotions mentioned above. A relatively new player on the home microdermabrasion market is a company called Crystalift. Crystalift have managed to produce a machine for home use which utilizes the very same technology as used in the professional machines (it uses the same crystals and the same vacuum process). Amazingly this true microdermabrasion machine costs around $200 compared to the many thousands of dollars that it would cost you to purchase a professional machine. The cost of the Crystalift Skin Resurfacing Microdermabrasion Kit is therefore comparable to the cost of one or two sessions at an aesthetic clinic and is capable of producing much the same results if used correctly. It is an exciting thought that such a low cost alternative is available now and, if other skin care companies follow the same pattern as they did with the early machines, it is possible that there will soon be a selection of similar machines available from a variety of manufacturers.
